The Wabash Park Camp & Retreat Center community is grieving the heartbreaking loss of one of its own. Kinsley Gruss, a beloved counselor whose faith and kindness left an indelible mark on campers and staff alike, has passed away following an accident in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Kinsley’s time with us was a testament to a life lived in service to others. As a counselor, she did far more than supervise; she ministered. Her life reflected the love of Christ in the way she cared for campers, encouraged fellow staff, and shared joy so freely with everyone around her. Her kindness, faith, and servant heart helped create a place where young people felt seen, valued, and loved. Whether around a campfire or during a quiet moment of mentorship, Kinsley made everyone feel as though they belonged.
The impact of her ministry will continue to live on in the countless lives she touched. Former campers, fellow counselors, and families are now sharing stories of how her gentle spirit and unwavering faith guided them during their time at camp.
While our hearts are heavy, we hold tightly to the promise of our faith that nothing can separate us from the love of God, and that in Christ, death is not the end but the beginning of eternal life. Though she left this earth far too soon, her legacy of love remains firmly planted in the soil of Wabash Park.
We ask our entire camp community to join us in praying for Kinsley’s family, friends, and all who knew and loved her. May God’s peace, comfort, and hope surround them in the days ahead.
Services: Information regarding memorial services or arrangements will be shared by the family via the camp’s official channels.
